I don't re-read books as often as I used to, since I've reached my old age. I have watched Double Indemnity multiple times, and would watch it again today if I could. There are way more new books I want to read than new movies I want to see, so I just keep reading new or new-to-me books. I love reading about your own journey, thank you!

Ooh, I will definitely be watching Double Indemnity - I love a film noir! Thank you for the recommendation!

Oh, I'm so glad you are a routine person too, Kelsey! I often think I must seem so unadventurous, but then as you say, the little routines bring me so much joy that I don't really care! I find with re-reading, there are certain books I return to at specific times, usually in the run up to Christmas, when eveything gets a bit crazy, or when I'm feeling overwhelmed. It's like picking back up with an old friend. My particular favourites are the Tales of the City series (I'm on a constant loop, working through the collection) and any of Mary Wesley's books.

Regarding Rebecca and Cornwall; I read most of her books before visiting many years ago, and would highly recommend reading Jamaica Inn and then visiting the actual inn! It has a little du Maurier room 💕

Oh yes, I completely understand re-reading certain books at certain times - sometimes the mood is just so right! I always rewatch Little Women at Christmas for just this reason, I definitely consider it a Christmas movie.

Thank you so much for the Jamaica Inn rec - I will definitely be checking that out! One of my favorite books ever - I didn't even realize it was a real place!

Oh, Little Women (preferably the older versions) are a staple of our Christmas viewing!!

I think you can even stay at Jamaica Inn! It's one of my favourite books also. I was so excited when I visited it 😀

It’s a little embarrassing to say, but I love the Disney version of Mary Poppins. Especially the scene where the chimney sweeps run down Cherry Tree Lane after sunset. So atmospheric. Gives me shivers just thinking about it.

Oh goodness, yes! I love that movie so much. I read the book when I was a little kid and I loved it too - gave me a lifelong appreciation for really spicy gingerbread!

I think the books are better (more mysterious) but I still love the movie.

The comfort and joy of routine...! I feel that with you, Kelsey.

Lovely. This made me ponder and think about how I look forward to reading Anna Karenina again sometime, perhaps in a few years, just to revisit the beauty of it all over again.

Loved reading this one. I used to be a re-reader in my childhood but I think I haven't done that in a while now. I laughed out loud reading the bit about watching some movies over and over in family owned VHS tapes. My baby brother was very fond of doing so. I would love to re-read Rebecca, now that you mention.

I don’t re-read now as much as I used to as a child, but sometimes I find myself missing old friends and just need the comfort of the familiar. I still have all my copies of the Anne of Green Gables books, and the last time I re-read the entire series I realized that I adored Anne as a girl and young adult, but didn’t really care for her as an adult and a mother. It was an interesting realization, and made me a little sad. I know the next time I decide to revisit Anne Shirley I will probably stop when she gets married and just remember the girl and what she meant to me growing up.
